It just hit me that I've actually succeeded in getting rid of Bagger (guinea pig #2) this morning. It also just hit me that I'm sad by this. I really liked Bagger, he had a personality all his own and was nothing like our buddy Rhino (Guinea pig #1).
They couldn't live together though.
Rhino has some....allergy to shavings. He still has issues with his eye getting all goopy and well they enjoyed chasing each other around and trying to eat each other I think.
Not a good thing if you ask me!
But Bagger is gone now and like I said, I feel sad. I hope it doesn't affect Pokey too much. She's back and forth with her emotions on this matter. Money seemed to distract her emotions a bit though.

ReplyDeleteAmazing how attached you can get to something that doesn't sleep with/on you, beg for treats, or play fetch with you. I had dwarf hamsters, each with their own personality- a pepsiholic, a chocoholic, a lover of sleeping in long sleaves. And most amzing- with a little time and attention, they will always love you more than you do them. THEN the guilt comes.
I know, I felt so guilty when the realization set in that he was gone. But the lady who got him said her son really wanted one. So maybe he will love him! Pokey wasn't too devastated by the whole thing, she still has Rhino (guinea pig #1)
DeleteWe went through the guinea pig era and even had a grave marker for one of them in the back yard where we used to live. We do live past these events but it can be painful.
